Holiday Greetings from Keep Noblesville Beautiful! Wow, what a busy and productive year for KNB! We accomplished so much, and had a lot of fun along the way, thanks to all of our great volunteers and supporters. We began the year partnering with Noblesville Sister Cities, the City of Noblesville and Noblesville Creates to create a colorful mural in downtown Noblesville. Artist Frank Hindes designed the mural showcasing Noblesville’s Sister Cities, Nova Prata, Brazil and Cittadella, Italy. It was a proud moment to see this beautiful mural become a part of the public art inventory in our city. We hope you will take time to view this amazing artwork in the alley next to 9th Street Bistro. KNB was also honored to partner with the City of Noblesville Clerk Treasurer’s Office to design and install a new garden in the Historic Riverside Cemetery. The cemetery is celebrating their 200th anniversary and recognizing the first burial on the grounds, that of Lawrence Willison, a reported Revolutionary War hero. The garden became a labor of love that took us through the summer and into the fall.
Plants for the garden were selected based on their historical symbolism and usage. For instance, New Jersey Tea was used as a tea substitute during the boycott of English Tea. The garden will also offer a patriotic red, white, and blue color scheme throughout the seasons.
The bench and arbor allow for a resting place for visitors with views of the cemetery, memorial garden and White River.
Later in the summer, the National Charity League joined us in partnership and provided two days of hard work to spruce up Midland Trace Trailhead. Noblesville Parks Department launched an Adopt a Trail Program and KNB was one of the first to adopt a one-mile section of the trail. Thanks to NCL volunteers, the trail was cleaned, native plants were added to the landscape and plants were trimmed back for the winter. We are so grateful for this new partnership with NCL and the wonderful team of volunteers!
Additionally, we revamped the landscape in the roundabout at Little Chicago Road and Hazel Dell Parkway with pollinators and native plants that will provide a welcome habitat for birds, butterflies and bees. Thank you to Duke Energy, GKM Property Services, Love Your Landscape, Hamilton County Master Gardener Association, Indiana Peony Festival and all other volunteers who came out to install more than 3,000 plants in this carefully planned garden.
These projects and more kept us busy and enjoying being a part of our great and growing community. We appreciate everyone who has reached out to volunteer, donate and lend a hand to make KNB the organization it is today. We always welcome corporate groups, service organizations and individuals to join us in our efforts to Keep Noblesville Beautiful.
